Coconut Creek, Butterfly Capital of the World®, is home to the world's largest butterfly aviary - a zoo, of sorts, for butterflies. South Florida's sub-tropical climate, the City's close proximity to the Everglades and to the coastline, and the well-maintained woodlands, wetlands, fields and glades help make the City an ideal home for an astonishing variety of butterflies including rare species not found anywhere else in the world.
The business community is thriving with over 1,500 businesses. Main Street is in the heart of the city and home to the Promenade of Coconut Creek, a green mixed-use lifestyle center filled with an abundance of shops and restaurants and the Seminole Coconut Creek casino, which also features restaurants and live entertainment.
The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (FAPA) has recognized the City’s "MainStreet Design Standards" project with an Award of Excellence in planning. Our city also received a national honor from the Kodak American Greenways Awards Program for the creation of interpretative signs for City Greenways and Parks
