The city of Coconut Creek, known as the Butterfly Captial of the World^®, is located in Broward County, Florida. The city took its name from the coconut trees that were planted in the area by early developers. R.E. Bateman, a developer, named Coconut Creek after two Dade County cities: Indian Creek and Coconut Grove. The population was 43,566 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 49,017.

The city which is 12 square miles with approximately 50,000 residents and 1,400 businesses nestled between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. Coconut Creek is widely recognized as a well-planned community with a unique environmental consciousness touting an abundance of trees, waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly gardens throughout its neighborhoods. Coconut Creek is the first in the State of Florida and eleventh in the country to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat. Housing is primarily single-family homes, condominiums, and townhouses within professionally landscaped communities with nearby top rated schools.
